How To Adopt

Thank you for considering adoption! When you adopt, you save two lives – the life of the pet you adopt and the life of another by opening a space in a shelter or foster home.

Dog Adoption Process

  • Step 1

Fill out our Adoption Application. We’ll contact you within 48-72 hours to answer any questions you may have about the dog. We do everything we can to ensure a good match between the dog and your family. Our goal is to find forever homes for our dogs!

  • Step 2

If the dog looks like a great match, we’ll connect you to the foster parents to chat and potentially schedule a meet and greet.
  • Step 3

Once a meet and greet is scheduled, we’ll ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you’d like to proceed with adopting.

  • Step 4

After your meet and greet with the dog, you’ll have 24 hours after the meeting to let us know your decision, pay the adoption fee, and arrange to pick up your new furry family member.

Please note: No adoption is final until the pet is spayed or neutered and the adoption fee has been paid. A home visit needs to be completed and approved within 1 week of adoption. If the home visit is not approved, ARR reserves the right to take the pet back into our care for the pet’s safety.
  • Step 5

Pay your adoption fee. Dog adoption fees vary by a variety of factors:

Puppies 6 months & younger: $475 (includes $50 Training Deposit, refundable upon receipt of proof of completion of puppy classes within 90 days of adoption.)

    Puppies 7-11 months: $450

    Purebred/Highly Requested Dogs: $425-$625

    Dogs 1 – 7 years: $400

Dogs 8 years or older: $125

    Pay Adoption Fee
  • Step 6

It’s time to take your newly adopted dog home! You must have a harness or martingale collar (if the dog is 40 lbs or more), a regular collar, and a leash to complete this step.
