Feltcher

Fletcher’s story is especially sweet.

He’s ~6 years old and had been with an ARR foster since September 20, 2022. He was diagnosed with progressive retinal atrophy, so he will eventually go blind. Unfortunately, dogs with health concerns typically have a hard time getting adopted. But Fletcher’s new parents are incredible! For example, this is what they said in their application:

“…Fletcher, in particular, checks a lot of boxes in terms of what seems right for our family – he’s not a puppy, we have similar activity levels (moderate! haha), his size is appropriate for our home and yard, and his special need – anticipated sight loss or blindness – is something we feel equipped to accommodate. after seeing his profile we have done a lot of discussing and reading about sight loss in dogs (including referring to the experience of a close friend who’s dog experienced blindness late in life), and feel that we have the right home, lifestyle, and outlook to care for him as this condition progresses. we understand that the sooner Fletcher finds a forever home while he’s sighted, the better it will be for him to adjust to losing his sight, and we hope to provide that consistent, loving environment!”

Fletcher is very fortunate to have found such amazing parents, and we hope that every animal with a medical condition can have an adoption story that is just as perfect.
